8+1 Reasons Behind the Failure of India's Lockdown

Lockdown In India Started On 25th March, 2020 To Fight Against COVID-19 Pandemic. However, The Lockdown Was A Complete Failure And The COVID-19 Positive Cases, All Over The Country, Increased Daily.

Here Are 8 Reasons Behind the Failure of India's Lockdown

1. Janata Curfew On 22nd March

Janata Curfew was held on 22nd March, 2020 as per Government Instructions. All people across the country were asked to Stay at home for the entire day till 9:00pm. All people were also asked to assemble at their windows or on their balconies and clap hands, ring bells, bang vessels, etc at 5:00pm for few minutes to show appreciation for Doctors, Nurses and Others helping fight coronavirus. It was actually a good decision since we were to appreciate those who risked their lives for our well-being.

But, the Janata Curfew turned out to be dangerous. This is because, a lot many people all over the country took it in a different way. Hundreds of people forming crowd, came out of their houses in almost every State of India. They came out dancing, bursting crackers, drumming, literally celebrating for God knows what reason...

This surely may have resulted in spreading the virus to a great extent. Corona did get that opportunity to meet so many people at once and spread itself throughout the country.

2. Switch off Lights At Home And Light A Lamp For 9 minutes On 5th April

After The Janata Curfew, The Modi Government asked the people to switch off lights at home and light a lamp for 9 minutes on 5th April, 2020. This decision was taken even after observing the dangerous situation caused by Janata Curfew, which I really don't feel right. As expected by many, a lot of people came out of their houses, formed a mass and started candle march!! It was observed in many places... I mean, Candle March for what?? It was even observed that many people started bursting crackers as if it's Diwali!!

The crowd formation here may have again resulted in spreading the virus easily..

3. Tablighi Jamaat

A Tablighi Jamaat religious congregation that took place in Delhi's Nizamuddin Markaz Mosque in early March 2020 was a "Coronavirus super-spreader" event, with more than 4,000 confirmed cases and at least 27 deaths linked to the event reported across the country. Over 9,000 missionaries may have attended the congregation, with the majority being from various states of India, and 960 attendees from 40 foreign countries.
On 18 April, 4,291 confirmed cases of COVID-19 linked to this event by the Union Health Ministry represented a third of all the confirmed cases of India. Around 40,000 people, including Tablighi Jamaat attendees and their contacts, were quarantined across the country.

The Tablighi Jamaat has received widespread criticism from the Muslim community for holding the congregation despite a ban on public gatherings being issued by the Government Of Delhi on 13 March.
At this time, Our All Time Famous "Godi Media" was "Super-active" on this issue...

4. Migrant Workers

Well, one of my previous blogs was all about the migrant workers.
Indian migrant workers during the COVID-19 pandemic have faced multiple hardships. With factories and workplaces shut down due to the lockdown imposed in the country, millions of migrant workers had to deal with the loss of income, food shortages and uncertainty about their future. Following this, many of them and their families went hungry. Thousands of them then began walking back home, with no means of transport due to the lockdown. In response, the Central and State Governments took various measures to help them, and later arranged transport for them. Many migrants also died due to the lockdown, with reasons ranging from starvation, suicides, exhaustion, road and rail accidents, police brutality and denial of timely medical care.

Due to the lockdown, more than 300 deaths were reported till 5 May, with reasons ranging from starvation, suicides, exhaustion, road and rail accidents, police brutality and denial of timely medical care. Among the reported deaths, most were among the marginalised migrants and labourers. 80 died while travelling back home on the Shramik Special trains, in the one month since their launch.

Notably, on 8 May, a freight train killed 16 migrants who had stopped to rest on railway tracks near Aurangabad in Maharashtra. On 14 May, eight migrant workers were killed and nearly 55 injured when the truck they were in collided with a bus near Guna, Madhya Pradesh.
On 16 May 24 migrant workers were killed and many more were injured when a trailer carrying migrants (along with sacks of lime) rammed into a stationary truck, also carrying migrants, in Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh.
According to data collected by SaveLIFE Foundation, an NGO working in road safety, 198 migrant workers were killed in road accidents, as of 2 June.

What else to say abour it?? I am speechless!! The Modi Government abandoned those migrant workers...

5. Private Hospitals Refusing Patients

It is very much surprising to see that even if there's a pandemic, corruption is still On!! But this thing was not highlighted by The Godi Media... Atleast I hope not...

There were many Private Hospitals Refusing COVID-19 Patients, sometimes even patients who had Other Problems!! Many patients were told that there's a lack of beds in Hospitals by the Hospital staff/management... It was later found that Those Private Hospitals were doing Black-marketing Of Beds. It was like, they charged high amounts for one single bed!! Let's say, 2-8 lakh per bed!! This was something huge... This thing was then observed by Delhi CM- Mr. Arvind Kejriwal and he took the necessary actions to deal with the Problem...

6. Inactiveness Of The Government

On 24 March 2020, the Government Of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered a nationwide Lockdown for 21 days, limiting movement of the entire 1.3 billion population of India as a preventive measure against the Covid-19 Pandemic In India. It was ordered after a 14-hour voluntary public curfew on 22 March, followed by enforcement of a series of regulations in the country's COVID-19 affected regions. The lockdown was placed when the number of confirmed positive coronavirus cases in India was approximately 500. Observers stated that the lockdown had slowed the growth rate of the pandemic by 6 April to a rate of doubling every six days, and by 18 April, to a rate of doubling every eight days.

What went wrong??
Well, After announcing the Lockdown on 24th March, The Government should have prepared itself to fight coronavirus. But nothing seemed to be prepared enough. Instead of improving the facilities, The Union Government was putting pressure on the State Governments (Like The West Bengal Government) and blaming the States and Tabligi Jamaat...

The Government even launched a tracking app- Aarogya Setu App.. The stated purpose of this app is to spread awareness of COVID-19 and to connect essential COVID-19 - related health services to the people of India. This app augments the initiatives of the Department Of Health to contain COVID-19 and shares best practices and advisories. It is a tracking app which uses the smartphone's GPS and Bluetooth to track Coronavirus infection.. So, if your (or the person next to you) phone's Bluetooth/GPS is off then you won't be knowing whether the person sitting next to you is infected or not...

The Aarogya Setu App reached more than 100 million installs in 40 days. This app even had a problem with security and privacy related issues...

7. Stupidity Of The People

This is not a new topic to argue with. Right from the beginning we have seen how people were easily spreading rumours (On WhatsApp University, News, The BJP)
There was panic everywhere and almost everyone was speaking about Coronavirus..
Many people said that China had spread this virus purposely... Soon, Gomutra (cow's urine) can prevent Coronavirus and many people from the BJP took the initiative to fool people all around the country... Many Believed them and started consuming Gomutra... How stupid!!!

Be it 22nd March "Janata Curfew" or 5th April "Switching off lights"  The people were all Super-active and were celebrating by forming crowd, candle march, bursting crackers, not maintained Social Distancing, etc...

In India, We Do Have "Right To Education" But We Are Still Not Provided The "Right Education"

8. Very Less COVID-19 Tests All Over The Country

If You think that we still have less Number Of COVID-19 Positive Cases in India, then Think again...
The Total Number Of COVID-19 Cases in India As Of 26th June, 2020 has Crossed 490k cases with more than 15.3k deaths all over the country...

But you think that this is the exact number of COVID-19 cases in India, then please do think again!!
As of June, 2020- The COVID-19 Testing rate of the country is still negligible... It is 4/1000, that is, The Number Of COVID-19 tests done per 1000 people is only 1 person!!!! Isn't shocking!!
Well, as we can see, be it The Union Government or the State Governments, they are Scared to increase the testing rates in the country. The reason can be very simple... It maybe because, if the testing rate increases, the number of COVID-19 Positive Cases will also increase rapidly!!! Then there will be a lot more panic and rumours all around the country! Even The Government will be failed to handle a situation like that... Well, they can't even handle the situation now!
From 500 Positive Cases in India before Lockdown to having nearly touched the 5 lakh Positive Cases today!!!

9. ONE BONUS REASON

Opening Up of Liquor Shops

The Cases were Rising or Let me say, The Cases in India were reaching New Heights Each and Every Single Day... The Economy was already down in The Month of January and during the Lockdown period when all shops/businesses,etc were closed, The Economy then was even below The Freezing Point Of Water!! I Mean, Below (0) - Yes, the gift by Famous Indian Mathematician Aryabhatta to the world...
So, in order to lift up the Economy ( even atleast a bit) The Government planned to open up liquor shops for one day... This was necessary for revenue generation.
It created Chaos all over the country!! Once again there was "Crowd Formation" No one maintained- Social Distancing as if this rule was not even there...
