Between Light and Darkness | Poem by Rohan Biswas | Phoenix

Between Light and Darkness

I feel shattered, stopping people
From entering the fragile chambers
Of my heart,
Knowing they are innocent.
But I have felt enough grief,
So I dare not take another chance.
The secrets I force myself to keep
Have now become the reason I weep.
How could I even tell them?
They expect flowers to bloom
On a withered plant left to itself.

I fear to be judged by the light,
Yet in darkness, the words fade.
So it is darkness,
That must dwell here—
For at least then,
I’ll have no one left,
To run from and fear.
