Hope | Poem by Rohan Biswas | Phoenix

Hope

Hope seems gentle at first,

When you are trying

To make it to the shore.

Not yet lost in the sea.

Not yet drowned completely.

It feels like a warm hug

That you've been longing for,

Until you realize

How cruel hope is—

To make you wait forever

For things to get better,

While you keep drowning

And darkness slowly sweeps in.
